It has been a while

Funny thing happened on the way to blogging.  I forgot to post stuff on my road trip because it was delayed by 4 days.  Let us begin with why I needed a road trip.

About 4 weeks ago, my mom, who is wintering in Florida with my oldest sister who lives there, got sick.  Not exactly sure what was wrong, but the doctor in the ER said it was her back, pretty much a treat and street type deal.  She still wasn't feeling well so my sister took her to a different ER, who said UTI more drugs and sent home.  On a Sunday she was back and the doctor decided to keep her and run tests on Monday.

February 10 it was decided that Mom needed cardiac catherization. which was scheduled for the next day.  My sister and niece decided they needed me down there to help when Mom was discharged, so they tried to get me on a plane.  Nope, not gonna happen, you don't put a claustrophobic person who's afraid of falling from high places in a small tube 35,000 feet in the air. And of course I started having a panic attack. so that was nixed and a one way ticket to Florida was gotten, leaving Wed., Feb. 12.

Mom did NOT have the cardiac cath, there was too much damage/blockage, so she was scheduled for bypass surgery Feb. 14.  Okay, 24 hours on a bus, be there Thursday evening.

Didn't happen because of nasty winter weather in Charlotte, NC...FOR 3 DAYS!  I didn't get out of Ohio until Saturday, Feb. 15.

Mom had triple bypass surgery.

I got sick on the bus trip down, but had nice bus buddies.

Mom was transferred to cardiac rehab Feb. 20.  And is still in there, but doing well.

I am not needed in Florida yet, am bored out of my mind and it's really not a vacation like people are calling it cuz I am doing the same stuff here as I did at home, only for 2 adult women.

ARRRRGGGGG

I want to go home, as soon as Mom is cleared to travel, we are out of here.

End of discussion.  And I'll keep you posted on how she is doing.

Under the weather or Why should we listen to a rodent?

Hate to say it, but spring is about 6 weeks away anyway, so why pay attention to what the fella in Pennsylvania said?  A flea would see its shadow with all those spot lights shining down on it.
On a lighter note, Buckeye Chuck here in Ohio did NOT see his, so there ya go.

I haven't posted in almost a month, shame on me.  I kept thinking about it but just haven't had the energy to do it.  I've not felt good in 3 weeks.  Nope, not the flu, just general yuck and have not wanted to do anything.  Bathroom FINALLY got a good, solid cleaning this past Friday. Yahoo...NOT.

Did anyone watch the travesty of a football game yesterday?  What a joke, knew the Broncos were in trouble 12 seconds into the game when that snap went over Manning's head and the Seahawks scored 2 on the safety.  All downhill from there.  Where in the world was the leagues best offense?  Oh, right, they stayed home in Denver and sent the Pop Warner footballers to New Jersey.  Congrats to Seattle.

And those commercials!  That's all I'm saying about that.

And if you find typos, what can I say?  The auto correct is not working today.

I'm off to make food.

It's so cold outside...

It was so cold outside yesterday that there was frost on the INSIDE of my front door, by the door knob.  No fooling, this is totally true.  I have proof!
January 6, about 7 PM
It got to a low of -14 with a windchill of -48 last night.

This morning, it's a whole bunch warmer, only -8, windchill of -38.
And I woke up to this on my front window, again on the inside.
Pretty but the blinds were frozen too!

Last time it was this cold was January, 1994, with a HIGH temp for Jan. 19 of -20.
My kids call it noise hair freezing weather.
Should have planned my Alaska vacation this week, Fairbanks is a balmy 40 degrees F.

This Year I Resolve To...

I remember making New Year's resolutions when I was a kid.  You know, the usual things:  be nicer to my parents and sisters, do more chores or do chores in timely manner, less junk more veggies.  That sort of thing.  When I became an adult, I resolved to never make resolutions again because, to be honest, how many of us actually KEEP them?  Until I hit the one about 7 years ago, TRY and do a good deed every day.
I found this one on line, don't remember where I read it but thank you to the one that originally posted it, for these are wise words.:

THIS YEAR I RESOLVE TO...
Be still and appreciate each morning.
Awaken hope for what each day can hold.
Seek and give kindness to others.
Not respond to negative comments with negative comments.
Notice and be aware of any words following "I am".
Pay more attention to the things which are good and try and stop talking about what is wrong.
Go outside my comfort zone at least once a month.
Take time to thank others on a regular basis.
Listen to my breath, feel my heartbeat and know my body is not replaceable and treat it with the respect it deserves.
Open my eyes and notice something beautiful in nature on a daily basis.
Reflect on my day and my life each night and find gratitude in something, even if it is only my breath, my heartbeat, life.

Happy New Year or What is your resolution for the new year?

This was taken last night, so it was the candy man's actual last picture of 2013.
Yes, I remember staying up, watching the ball drop in Times Square on New Year's Rockin' Eve with
Mr. Dick Clark.  It just isn't the same without him, but it was watched last night.

I generally don't make any resolutions for the new year, just to TRY to be a better person, TRY and do a good deed every day, TRY and get the de-cluttering done.  Key word being TRY, for if it doesn't happen, you are NOT breaking a resolution.  Right?   Well, that's how I roll, how my mind works.  8 out of 10 TRIES it usually happens.

May 2014 be YOUR year.
Make it a good one, you only have this one chance at it.

Oh and don't forget the pork and sauerkraut for luck.
