Holy Moly

I've been away for a while. A very LONG while. Been catching up on things from my 2.5 month adventure to Florida and , well, i forgot to blog!  Cleaning, cooking, baking, canning, yelling, fit pitching, you name it, I've done it since my last post.

My computer doesn't seem to want to work right now, but when it does, I promise to post pictures of what I've been doing over the summer.

Mom update

It's been 3 months since I updated about my mom so here goes.

She was discharged from rehab facility March 28, to my sister's home, and started out patient cardiac rehab there.  Not too impressed with the PT but the OT, Al, was fantastic.  She was doing very well until about 2 weeks into it, when she started rebelling.

Went to eat at a place called Johnny Angel's, a 1950's style diner, was really cool.

Easter Sunday we got taken to the beach, but not at sunrise.  Got rushed through it, so kept very short. When I can figure out how to transfer photos, I will post.  Mom also did something to her back by bending at the waist, not a crouch, to pick something off the floor.  Even though she has osteoporosis
and was told not to.  Heating pad here she came.

The week before we finally left Florida to come home was weird.
Told my 34 year old niece off, at brunch at Denny's. because of her rudeness, her basically calling me an effing idiot because I happened to mispronounce a silly word.  It felt kind of good.

Also that same day, Mom bent from the waist, not a crouch, to pick something off the floor, after she was told not to.  Mom has severe osteoporosis and should not be doing that.

The next 2 days she complained of horrendous back pain.  Told PT about it and Sharon said sounded muscular and the heating pad I had mom use was good plan of action.  That day, a Tuesday, she was discharged from out patient cardiac rehab care.

Wednesday our saviors arrived in town to take us home.

Thursday we were able to be tourists! Jacksonville Zoo AND the beach again!  Was such a great, stress-free day! Pictures are coming, I promise.
Mom was also discharged and cleared to go home from cardiothoracic surgeon.  Yippee!

May 2, 2014 was a 17 hour car ride home.

May4, mom back in ER because of back.  Compression fracture of T12.
May 6, orthopedist confirmed and put her on bed rest.
May 25 she was doing great, no pain to speak of and got her hair done.
May 28 she was coughing like she was smoking again (having quit 14 months prior).
May 29 Mom was admitted to hospital with potential blood clots, as indicated in blood work.  Because of sudden onset of shortness of breath and massive pain.
May 30 it was determined no blood clots, was kidney stones.
May 31 it was determined no kidney stones, was another compression fracture and she was discharged to home.

When will this madness stop and my mother's body stop rebelling against her?
She is 80 years old for goodness sake!

She sounded pretty good yesterday, June 1.
Give her a break already!

Pictures are coming, I promise.

It has been a while

Funny thing happened on the way to blogging.  I forgot to post stuff on my road trip because it was delayed by 4 days.  Let us begin with why I needed a road trip.

About 4 weeks ago, my mom, who is wintering in Florida with my oldest sister who lives there, got sick.  Not exactly sure what was wrong, but the doctor in the ER said it was her back, pretty much a treat and street type deal.  She still wasn't feeling well so my sister took her to a different ER, who said UTI more drugs and sent home.  On a Sunday she was back and the doctor decided to keep her and run tests on Monday.

February 10 it was decided that Mom needed cardiac catherization. which was scheduled for the next day.  My sister and niece decided they needed me down there to help when Mom was discharged, so they tried to get me on a plane.  Nope, not gonna happen, you don't put a claustrophobic person who's afraid of falling from high places in a small tube 35,000 feet in the air. And of course I started having a panic attack. so that was nixed and a one way ticket to Florida was gotten, leaving Wed., Feb. 12.

Mom did NOT have the cardiac cath, there was too much damage/blockage, so she was scheduled for bypass surgery Feb. 14.  Okay, 24 hours on a bus, be there Thursday evening.

Didn't happen because of nasty winter weather in Charlotte, NC...FOR 3 DAYS!  I didn't get out of Ohio until Saturday, Feb. 15.

Mom had triple bypass surgery.

I got sick on the bus trip down, but had nice bus buddies.

Mom was transferred to cardiac rehab Feb. 20.  And is still in there, but doing well.

I am not needed in Florida yet, am bored out of my mind and it's really not a vacation like people are calling it cuz I am doing the same stuff here as I did at home, only for 2 adult women.

I want to go home, as soon as Mom is cleared to travel, we are out of here.

End of discussion.  And I'll keep you posted on how she is doing.

Under the weather or Why should we listen to a rodent?

Hate to say it, but spring is about 6 weeks away anyway, so why pay attention to what the fella in Pennsylvania said?  A flea would see its shadow with all those spot lights shining down on it.
On a lighter note, Buckeye Chuck here in Ohio did NOT see his, so there ya go.

I haven't posted in almost a month, shame on me.  I kept thinking about it but just haven't had the energy to do it.  I've not felt good in 3 weeks.  Nope, not the flu, just general yuck and have not wanted to do anything.  Bathroom FINALLY got a good, solid cleaning this past Friday. Yahoo...NOT.

Did anyone watch the travesty of a football game yesterday?  What a joke, knew the Broncos were in trouble 12 seconds into the game when that snap went over Manning's head and the Seahawks scored 2 on the safety.  All downhill from there.  Where in the world was the leagues best offense?  Oh, right, they stayed home in Denver and sent the Pop Warner footballers to New Jersey.  Congrats to Seattle.

And those commercials!  That's all I'm saying about that.

And if you find typos, what can I say?  The auto correct is not working today.

I'm off to make food.
